Awe-Inspiring Appearance
His balanced physique, illuminating countenance and the red streaks in his eyes, together with his beautiful features, cast such awe that no one would have the courage to speak to him impulsively. However, his culture, humility, nobility, and openness were so overwhelming that after conversing with him, those who would initially fear speaking to him on account of his awe-inspiring appearance would surrender themselves totally to him. He was thus a replica of the description of Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam):
مَنْ رَآهُ بَدِيْهَةً هَابَه
Whoever saw him for the first time became struck with awe and fear,
وَمَنْ خَالَطَه مَعْرِفَةً أَحَبَّه
and whoever kept his company and came to know him, fell in love with him.
His general outward state was excellent. His garments were compatible. His natural beauty made his garments also stand out. Whichever gathering he graced, eyes automatically turned to him drawn by:
سِيْمَاهُمْ فِيْ وُجُوْهِهِمْ مِّنْ أَثَرِ السُّجُوْدِ ط
On their (the Sahaabah’s) countenances is their sign produced by the impression of Sajdah.
His statements, actions, and devotional practices portrayed:
إِنَّ صَلَاتِيْ وَنُسُكِيْ وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِيْ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ ◌
Indeed, my Salaat, all my Ibaadat, my life and my death are purely for Allah, the Creator and Nurturer of the universe.
